Fragrances Born from the Power of Plants
Founded in France in 2021 by Anne Querard, HOZHO draws inspiration from the power of plants and Native American culture. Combining modern knowledge with the legacy of ancient wisdom, the brand creates fragrances that harness the power of plants.
By bringing together the scents and energies of multiple plants, HOZHO creates fragrances based on the idea of balancing the energy of our living spaces and ourselves, bringing harmony with nature into everyday life. Its collections include scented candles, home fragrances, scented diffusers and body fragrances.
HOZHO, Born from an Encounter with Nature
Before founding HOZHO, Anne Querard held executive positions at major companies. The launch of HOZHO marked the beginning of what she describes as her “second life.” Anne believes that each of us has our own frequency, through which a vital energy flows and can sometimes become blocked. From this belief came the idea of using the power of nature and fragrance to influence the energy of the body and the spaces around us.
A turning point came in the summer of 2020, when Anne met a chemist in the Basque Country in southwestern France. They shared many of the same values: respect for nature and living beings, ancestral know-how, a return to nature, sourcing in the Basque Country, and responsible harvesting designed to preserve the qualities of the plants. Their shared vision led to the development of the first products, and HOZHO was born the following year, in 2021.
Six Functions for Different Needs and States
HOZHO fragrances are organized around six Functions. Each combines different plants and scents, with a distinct role in influencing the energy of our spaces or ourselves. The six Functions are Purify, Harmonize, Protect, Vitalize, Transcend and Reveal Yourself.
1. Purify
A herbal fragrance reminiscent of a walk in the forest. Designed to cleanse living spaces and remove lingering negative energy, it blends around 30 plants known for their purifying properties, including palo santo, white sage, thyme, rosemary, fir and juniper.
2. Harmonize
A warm, floral fragrance combining valerian, lavender, sandalwood, amber and red rose. Designed to rebalance the energy of living spaces, calm the mind and create a serene atmosphere, it is also suited to moments of meditation, yoga and creativity.
3. Protect
A warm fragrance built around woods and resins, including myrrh, oud, oak, cherry wood, sacred frankincense and cedar. Designed to create a calm and comforting atmosphere, it focuses on grounding and emotional balance while encouraging a deeper connection with oneself and loved ones.
4. Vitalize
A fresh citrus fragrance reminiscent of gentle summer mornings. Grapefruit, orange, bergamot, lemon, pine, amber, pepper and vetiver come together to stimulate creativity and bring positive energy and renewed vitality to living spaces.
5. Transcend
A sensory journey inspired by ancestral Sacred Lands and the wisdom of ancient peoples. Through a connection with nature, the elements and ancestral spirits, the collection evokes an inward journey toward restoring inner harmony.
Native American Sacred Lands is inspired by Native American rites, with spicy notes of leather, cedar, amber, honey, blond tobacco, spices and candied plum. The fragrance is designed to cleanse the memories of places, free and renew the energies around us, and open the way to positive energy and change. It is available across the Flame scented candle, Rain home fragrance and Breeze scented diffuser formats.
6. Reveal Yourself
This Function is dedicated to HOZHO scented waters, a collection of four fragrances designed to be worn on the body. Created around the balance between body, mind and spirit, each fragrance focuses on a different state and intention.
Please note: HOZHO scented waters are not currently available in Japan.
Infinite Sun | Joy & Vitality
A warm, woody fragrance combining hazel, St. John’s wort, poppy, amber, ylang-ylang, patchouli and bergamot, centered on joy and vitality.
Sacred Moon | Strength & Creativity
A deep floral-woody fragrance combining cedar and oak with camellia, cyclamen, myrrh and water flower, centered on strength and creativity.
Celestial Star | Anchoring & Serenity
A delicate floral fragrance combining bamboo, orchid, mallow, magnolia, white musk and peony, centered on grounding and serenity.
Vénus Révélée | Love & Attractiveness
A fragrance built around rose, hibiscus, jasmine and sandalwood. Centered on love and attractiveness, it evokes affection, the joy of sharing and connection with others.
Harnessing the Power of Plants: The Making of HOZHO
HOZHO seeks to harness the fragrance and power of plants and transform them into scents that can be naturally incorporated into everyday life. From ingredient selection through production, harmony with nature remains an important part of the process.
Ingredients are carefully selected according to quality and sustainability criteria and sourced from suppliers that respect the natural environment. HOZHO uses plant-based alcohol in its home fragrances, while its candles are made with 100% plant-based wax and natural cotton wicks. Its packaging also uses paper sourced through sustainable programs.
HOZHO products are made in France, and its candles are individually hand-poured by a French master wax maker. To offer the best of nature in everyday life, careful attention is given to ingredient selection, extraction and production in order to preserve the natural aromas and properties of the materials.
